So, What is ValleyLists, Anyway? An Overview

Welcome to ValleyLists! The website that helps you get connected where you live.

I am Will Flanders. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to tell you about ValleyLists and what you can do and find here.

A COMMUNITY GATHERING PLACE AND HUGE BULLETIN BOARD IN YOUR COMMUNITY

Imagine that in the center of your town or neighborhood there is a gathering place where many people come together to talk about the issues of the day or whatever interests them in that moment and there is a huge bulletin board.

This huge bulletin board has detailed lists of everthing you might want to know about:

* everthing that is going on where you live, all events, classes, workshops, activities, meetings, and tag sales;

* fun things to do, places to hold events, locally produced food and other products, people and animal resources, tourist attractions, lodging, restaurants, and shops;

* all businesses, non-profit organizations, and informal groups (such as study groups, motorcycle clubs, quilting circles, children's play groups, etc.), large and small, who are available to serve you in their own special way, along with any specials they may be offering today and any news and announcements they may have;

* galleries where individuals can show their art, writing, crafts or whatever they want with their community;

* everyone offering businesses for sale or other business opportunities;

* everything that someone wants to buy, sell, barter, or give away something;

* everyone who wants to find an activity partner, a volunteer opportunity, to network, or to share a ride;

* lost & found notices;

* all housing and real estate available for sale or rent;

* all jobs and volunteer activities available;

* people looking for a new relationship;

* contact information for all government officials and agencies who serve your ZIP Code; and

* emergency information.

ValleyLists is this wonderful gathering place and huge bulletin board except that it is much more useful because:

* you don't have to leave the comfort of your home,

* you can find precisely what you want to know in this moment without slogging or sifting through lots of irrelevant stuff,

* you can enter into conversations with your friends and neighbors whenever you want on whatever topic you want in the moment,

* it is “G-Rated” - family-friendly and child-friendly - there is NO obnoxious advertising, NO explicit sexual content, and NO violence, and

* 50% of the profits are channelled back into the community.

Ok, you may be saying, this is very cool, but who is going to pay for this and who is going to put up all of this information for me to use?

The answer to the first question is that ValleyLists is a FREE public service for those who are looking for information. This public service is paid for by those who get a specific benefit from letting the community know about what they have to offer - each of whom pays a little bit.

Businesses pay $60 per year and non-profits organizations, groups, and individuals pay $30 per year. For more information on Paid Listings, read this: What is a Paid Listing?.

The answer to the second question is that everyone enters their own information into ValleyLists - except that ValleyLists is creating all initial listings for government officials and agencies. The website is designed to make it pretty easy for you to enter your information - if you can send and receive an email, you have the skills to enter something into ValleyLists!
